Contraception is a personal choice, and the right method often changes over the years: before marriage, between children, once your family is complete. At Venus Women’s Wellness Clinic in Wakad, we explain your options clearly so you can pick what fits your health, your relationship and your plans.

The options we discuss

Modern contraception offers many safe, effective choices. Daily pills suit women who can take a tablet at the same time every day. A Copper-T or hormonal IUD protects you for several years and can be removed whenever you are ready for a baby. Implants and injections are other long-acting options. Condoms protect against both pregnancy and many infections. If your family is complete, permanent options for either partner can be discussed and referred. And when a method fails or is missed, emergency contraception is available.

Every method has its own benefits and possible side effects. Some make periods lighter, some may make them heavier for a while, and some are not suitable for women with certain health conditions. That is why a proper conversation matters.

How we help you choose

The first step is listening. Dr. Madhavi Tayade asks about your age, your cycles, any health conditions, whether you are breastfeeding, and when, or whether, you want children. She checks your blood pressure and other basics, walks you through each suitable option with its pros and cons, and answers your questions honestly. If you choose an IUD, she inserts it at the clinic and explains every step as she goes.

Ayurveda plays a supporting role. It can help with side effects such as irregular spotting, guide your diet and routine while you use a hormonal method, and help your cycle settle when you stop contraception to plan a pregnancy. We teach cycle awareness as useful knowledge about your body, not as a reliable method on its own. Everything is done under medical supervision.

When to see a doctor

Book a visit when you want to start, switch or stop contraception, if you have side effects such as heavy bleeding or headaches, if you think your method may have failed, or when you want to plan your next pregnancy. If you have severe lower abdominal pain, especially with a missed period, go to the nearest hospital or call 108, as this needs urgent assessment.

Respect for your choices

Every woman has the right to make decisions about her own body, whatever her age or relationship status, and we respect that. Your visit is confidential.

Questions women ask

Which contraceptive method is right for me?

It depends on your age, health, how soon you may want a baby, how regular your periods are and what you are comfortable with. Dr. Madhavi Tayade will explain the options that suit you and you decide together.

Does Copper-T cause infertility?

No. Fertility usually returns soon after a Copper-T is removed. Some women have heavier periods or cramps for the first few months, which usually settle.

Are birth control pills safe to take long term?

For most healthy women, modern pills are safe when taken under medical guidance. They are not suitable for everyone, for example some women with migraines with aura, high blood pressure or a history of clots. We check this before prescribing.

What should I do if I had unprotected sex?

Emergency contraception works better the sooner it is taken, ideally within 72 hours. Contact us or a pharmacist quickly. It is meant for emergencies, not as a regular method.

Can I use contraception after delivery?

Yes. There are safe options during breastfeeding, including Copper-T and certain pills. We usually discuss this during pregnancy or at your postnatal visit.
