Pregnancy brings joy, questions and, at times, worry. Regular antenatal care keeps a close eye on you and your baby, and gives you somewhere to bring every question as it comes up. At Venus Women’s Wellness Clinic in Wakad, Dr. Madhavi Tayade pairs careful modern monitoring with gentle Ayurvedic support for body and mind.

What antenatal care includes

Antenatal care follows your pregnancy week by week. At each visit we check your blood pressure and weight, and your baby’s growth and heartbeat. Blood and urine tests at the right stages look for anaemia, thyroid problems, infections and gestational diabetes. Sonography scans are planned for each trimester, including the important anomaly scan. We start and adjust supplements such as folic acid, iron and calcium, and advise vaccinations when they are due.

Each visit is also your time to talk about how you feel. Bring up nausea, tiredness, sleep, back pain, anxiety and any small question that has been on your mind.

The Modern and Ayurveda Way in pregnancy

Dr. Madhavi Tayade is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Obstetrician who has managed more than 500 normal deliveries. The modern side of your care follows standard antenatal guidelines, so nothing important is missed.

Ayurveda adds a layer of support around it. Month-wise diet guidance, traditionally called garbhini paricharya, helps you eat well at each stage. Selected Ayurvedic supplements suited to pregnancy may be added under medical supervision. Prenatal yoga, breathing and guided meditation help with comfort, sleep and calm, and may help prepare you for labour. You can also join Garbhasanskar sessions, which focus on your emotional bond with your baby.

When to contact us between visits

Planning ahead for delivery

Questions women ask

When should I have my first pregnancy visit?

Book a visit as soon as your home pregnancy test is positive, or by six to eight weeks of pregnancy. Early care helps confirm the pregnancy, date it correctly and start the right supplements.

How often will I need check-ups?

Usually once a month until about 28 weeks, every two weeks until 36 weeks, and then weekly until delivery. You may need more frequent visits if there are any concerns.

Are Ayurvedic medicines safe in pregnancy?

Only certain Ayurvedic preparations are suitable in pregnancy, and they should be taken under medical supervision. Dr. Madhavi Tayade chooses them carefully, to go with your modern supplements. Please do not take herbal products in pregnancy without asking your doctor.

Can I do yoga while pregnant?

Gentle prenatal yoga and breathing are helpful for most women with a healthy pregnancy. Some positions should be avoided, and some women need to rest more. We guide you on what suits your pregnancy.

What are warning signs in pregnancy?

Bleeding, leaking fluid, severe headache, blurred vision, swelling of face or hands, severe abdominal pain, fever, or reduced baby movements need urgent attention. Contact us, or go to the nearest hospital or call 108.
