The weeks after birth are full of love, and full of change. Your body is healing, your sleep is broken, feeding can be harder than you expected and emotions can swing widely. Indian families have long looked after new mothers through this time. At Venus Women’s Wellness Clinic in Wakad, we bring that tradition together with modern postnatal care, so you are looked after as well as your baby.

Healing after birth

After a normal delivery or a caesarean, your body needs time to recover. A postnatal check-up makes sure stitches or wounds are healing, bleeding is settling, the uterus is returning to its usual size and blood pressure is normal. We check for anaemia and thyroid problems, both common after pregnancy, and talk about contraception that is safe while breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding brings its own questions: latching, sore nipples, low supply, engorgement. Our practical lactation support helps you and your baby find a rhythm.

How the Modern and Ayurveda Way helps

Dr. Madhavi Tayade combines these checks with Ayurvedic postnatal care, traditionally called sutika paricharya. That means a warm, nourishing diet that may support recovery and milk supply, gentle oil massage and rejuvenation therapies where suitable, and rest. As you heal, yoga for core strength, pelvic floor and posture is brought in gradually. Each therapy is chosen after checking how you are healing, especially after a caesarean, and given under medical supervision.

Caring for your mind

Feeling emotional in the first two weeks is common. For some mothers, low mood, worry or irritability lasts longer and makes daily life hard. This is postpartum depression or anxiety, and it is not a sign of weakness. We screen for it gently at each visit and offer emotional counselling, meditation and NLP techniques as support. When needed, we help you connect with psychiatric or psychological care.

When to get help

Come in earlier than planned if you have pain that is getting worse, fever, discharge with a bad smell, a painful red area on the breast or trouble passing urine, or if you are struggling emotionally. If you have heavy bleeding, severe pain, swelling in one leg, breathlessness, or thoughts of harming yourself or your baby, go to the nearest hospital or call 108.

Your recovery matters. Call us or book a postnatal visit with Dr. Madhavi Tayade at our clinic in Wakad, and bring your baby along if you like.

Questions women ask

When should I have a postnatal check-up?

A check-up around six weeks after delivery is common, but come earlier if you have any concerns. Women who had a caesarean, complications or high blood pressure may need to be seen sooner.

When can I start exercise after delivery?

Gentle walking and breathing can usually start soon after a normal delivery. Core and pelvic floor exercises are started gradually, and more active exercise usually after your postnatal check. After a caesarean, recovery takes longer. We guide you based on how you are healing.

Is it normal to feel low after having a baby?

Many mothers feel tearful or emotional in the first two weeks, often called baby blues. If low mood, anxiety or a sense of hopelessness lasts longer or feels heavy, please talk to us. Postpartum depression is common and treatable with the right support.

Can Ayurvedic massage and therapies help after delivery?

Traditional postnatal care in Ayurveda includes oil massage, warm nourishing food and rest. These may help with comfort and recovery. At our clinic, therapies are chosen after checking your healing, especially after a caesarean.

What are warning signs after delivery?

Heavy bleeding, fever, foul-smelling discharge, severe pain, a red and painful breast, swelling or pain in one leg, severe headache or thoughts of harming yourself or the baby need urgent help. Go to the nearest hospital or call 108.
